The issue I can see coming up, if you don't have EDID to update/override to begin with, how does Windows know that the monitor plugged in is the EDID info that has an update or override? Put another way, Windows knows to update/override the EDID info from a VX3276, but to windows the monitor plugged in isn't a VX3276, its a Generic PnP display. The most accurate answer to get rid of this problem is to update the driver of the generic PnP monitor. PC: Ok well I know something is plugged in, but I don't know what it is. Now, with an EDID error something goes wrong, so instead we get:
I see your preferred resolution is I will do that."

(This timing list is what the PC uses to populate the list in the Displays control panel) I support these resolutions:Ģ560x1440 at 60hz, 50hz, 30hz.
PC: "Hey, I see you are a monitor, what monitor are you?" Usually its an EDID error somewhere in the chain, or the monitor itself.ĮDID is the information a monitor sends to the PC with information about itself. In my experience "Generic PnP Monitor" is not a driver issue.
